 Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System(IRNSS) is India's first own navigation system, developed by ISRO.

Its operational name is NAVIC (NAVigation with Indian Constellation)


How many satellites does NAVIC have?

  Totally 9 satellites have launched by ISRO

      • IRNSS-1B

      • IRNSS-1G
      • IRNSS-1H 
      • IRNSS-1I  

How many satellites are now operational?

 Currently, 9 satellites have been launched from that IRNSS-1A is partially failed during the operation to replace that defective satellite IRNSS-1H is prepared to launch but the launch was failed due to the payload fairing was failed to separate. So, to replace that ISRO has finally launched IRNSS-1I replaced the partially defective satellite and now it is operational.

From up to this date totally 7 satellites are operational and 2 satellites become failed


When was the first & final launch of IRNSS was done by ISRO?

The first launch of the IRNSS program was done by ISRO on 1 July 2013.
.
The final launch of the IRNSS program was done by ISRO on 12 April 2013.

What were the services provided by the IRNSS program?

IRNSS  will provide two types of services 
      • Standard Positioning System (SPS)
      • Restricted Service(RS) 
Standard Positioning System (SPS) - This is open and the positioning system can be fully accessible by the public.

Restricted Service(RS) - This is a restricted which can be accessible only by the authorized users(for defense purposes )
